Runnels “Festival of Arts” Coming Up May 5
Runnels will hold its annual Spring Art Show as part of the school’s new Festival of Arts on Sunday, May 5 from 1:00 – 5:00 p.m. on the school’s main campus, 17255 S. Harrell’s Ferry Rd.
The Festival of Arts will include an awards ceremony and reception for the Art Show at 1:30 p.m., viewing of the Art Show from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m., harp, orchestra, and band concerts in the Gladys Hague Runnels Theatre, and special events and displays in both school libraries.
The awards ceremony and reception for the Spring Art Show will be held at 1:30 p.m. in the Theatre. Awards will be presented in the categories of Student’s Choice, Judges’ Choice, and Principal’s Choice.
The Spring Art Show, with nearly one-thousand original pieces of artwork created by students in preschool through high school, will be held in the school gym from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. Live music will be provided by the Jazz Souls and light refreshments will be served.
In the Theatre, the Runnels Harp Choir will perform at 2:00 p.m., the Runnels String Orchestra will play at 3:30 p.m., and the Runnels 6th-12th-Grade Band will hold its spring concert at 5:00 p.m.
Both school libraries will be open from 1:00-5:00 p.m. In the Elementary Library, the Spring Scholastic Book Fair will be underway, with all proceeds going to the Runnels Library programs, and a display of Summer Reading titles for grades 7-12 and an exhibit of award-winning student writing will be available in the Jr.-Sr. High Library.
