Raiders Advance to LHSAA State Baseball Championship Finals
The Raiders toppled the No. 1 seed and defending state champion team, Claiborne Christian, 7-2 in the Division V semifinals at the LHSAA state baseball tournament in Sulphur. The victory secures a berth for Runnels in the state finals on May 13.
Head Coach Ben Young narrates some of the action at the game:
"Runnels fell behind 2-0 in the bottom of the first inning but rallied with 3 runs in the 3rd. Ricky Harrison had a hard hit double in the left field gap to score Grayson Gulley and Robby Harrison. Jake Best followed up with an RBI single. The Raiders added some insurance runs in the 5th and 6th innings. Robby Harrison had a clutch single in the 6th to score a run and Ricky followed with another hit to score.
Runnels pounded out 10 hits on the day, and Ricky threw a complete game, only surrendering the two runs in the first inning. Grayson Gulley led the Raiders with 3 hits, Collin Bueche had a double, Blaine Nicholson had an RBI single, and Aaron Taliaferro had a hit."
The Raiders take on Northside Christian in the championship game on Monday, May 13 in Sulphur.
