Since its inception in 1985, the athletic program at Runnels High School has succeeded in accomplishing the difficult task of having both competitive excellence and educational emphasis.

Physical skills and fitness are perfected with athletics for boys and girls.

Softball, Basketball and Swimming play important roles in student life.


Every fall the Runnels Baseball Camp builds skills and teamwork

Runnels became a member of the LHSAA in 1988.

Team and individual sports are offered as well as a year round strength and conditioning program.


While educational emphasis and striving for excellence are the two most important objectives of the Runnels athletic program, the Runnels teams have been highly successful.

The student teams are the Runnels Raiders,

and the Lady Raiders.


Girls Volleyball provides another important outlet for physical expression and competition.



Both are respected by their opponents around the conferences for who they are, and how they act.


Support for the athletic program is a vital and campus-wide part of the Runnels Experience.
No matter what ability the student has, there is a place for them to become involved in athletics at Runnels.

Winning is part of the athletic tradition at Runnels. The development of student athletes as individuals complements this tradition. At Runnels the athletic program is designed to challenge students to grow mentally as well as physically.
