Runnels offers an educational program of the highest quality, designed to ensure that each student is prepared to meet the intellectual demands of today's world. The academic program encourages intellectual growth and curiosity, as well as the exploration and expression of ideas. The curriculum is college preparatory and includes all the basic courses required for a high school diploma and for the Board of Regents Distinction, as well as an impressive array of fine arts courses.
Runnels provides quality instruction in small class settings, where each student receives individual attention. The demands of the curriculum are balanced by a caring faculty, allowing each student to reach his or her full potential.

Runnels School believes that education takes place as the result of a cooperative effort among students, school, and family.


A guidance counselor and an academic counselor provide extra support to students and parents. Communicaiton with parents is frequent, and Runnels School encourages parental involvement.
Chemistry, Mathematics, Psychology, Foreign Languages, the Arts. Each has its own emphasis.
Advanced students are integrated into the environment with little fanfare - instead the Runnels staff looks to maximize the educational experience for each student on a personal basis.

Students in the High School will experience Creative Writing, Astronomy, Environmental Science, Honors Seminar, Law, Home Ec and Advanced Placement courses - From the Runnels perspective.
Small classes means each student gets more attention, more interest, and a correspondingly greater chance of succeeding in life.
