Runnels SchoolRunnels School and the arts have been close friends since the founding of the school in 1965. Our unique program, serving preschoolers through high school students preparing for college, has always reflected the high value we place on the role of the arts in human experience.

Music

\

Runnels students participate in many diverse music programs from preschool through high school.

The band program begins in the fourth grade and continues through high school.

Elementary, junior, and senior high students study choral music and perform at concerts throughout the year.

Theater

Runnels students often appear in local theater productions, and at the

Runnels Theater for Performing Arts.

Dramatic productions take place throughout the year at both the Junior and Senior High levels. Awards have been earned at the Baton Rouge Little Theater Duet Acting Festival.

The Runnels Theater for Performing Arts is a first-class facility for presentations of all kinds.

The opportunity to perform in public through dance, music, theater or any of the many other possible ways is a valued part of the educational experience at Runnels School.
Runnels junior and senior high school students may elect to study modern dance or ballet.

Beginning in the first grade, students study drama and regularly perform for student and parent audiences.

The junior and senior high students stage several major productions in the Theater for Performing Arts each year that attract audiences from throughout the community.

The award-winning band regularly wins awards at the solo and ensemble festivals. The Runnels Band is always well represented in the E. B. R. Parish Honor Band.

Major concerts are performed in winter and spring.
