Honor societies, special interest groups, service clubs, student government, and competitive groups provide something to interest almost every student. Most of the student body is active in these organizations.

Students are encouraged to be active in one or more of the student clubs. It is in these extra-curricular groups that students develop leadership, organizational skills, and socialization skills. Runnels High is proud of the student leadership and participation in club activities.

EARTH CLUBS (SENIOR AND JUNIOR HIGH EARTH CLUB):
Members promote an awareness of environmental concerns, both globally and locally. Activities include school wide projects, guest speakers, and field trips.

NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY:
The Runnels chapter of the National Honor Society selects for membership those students who exemplify its ideals of scholarship, character, leadership, and service. NHS members perform service projects for the school and for their fellow students.

QUIZ BOWL TEAMS (JUNIOR AND SENIOR HIGH SQUADS):
Members study a wide spectrum of academic facts and practice quick recall and response. Students compete in academic matches against area schools.

CHEERLEADERS (VARSITY SQUAD AND JUNIOR HIGH SQUAD):
These two cheerleading squads ignite spirit. Junior High Cheerleaders take charge at seventh and eighth grade games and join in pep rallies. The varsity cheerleaders plan pep rallies and spirit activities and cheer at varsity contests. Cheerleaders attend cheerleading camp each summer.

TRI-M HONOR SOCIETY:
Band students who wish to expand their musical experience and performance skill may become Tri-M members. The Runnels chapter has twice been runner-up for national Chapter-of-the-Year honors, based on service to the school as well as musical performance.


FELLOWSHIP OF CHRISTIAN ATHLETES (FCA):
FCA is a service club which works to promote Christian ethics in and through athletics.

ART CLUBS:
The Art Clubs foster interest in the visual arts. Members take field trips to museums, galleries, and special events. The clubs provide special decorations, signs, and banners for school-wide functions.

NATIONAL ART HONOR SOCIETY:
Students who demonstrate excellence and dedication to the arts may be selected for membership into the National Art Honor Society.

STUDENT GOVERNMENT ASSOCIATION:
The SGA consists of elected representatives from each grade in grades 7-12. They sponsor school-wide activities such as homecoming, school assemblies, club membership drives, and dances.

JUNIOR CLASSICAL LEAGUE:
Members of the Junior Classical League participate in activities which promote an understanding and appreciation of Greek and Roman history, culture and language.
