Students in the High School may experience Creative Writing, Astronomy, Computer Science, Drama, Psychology, Environmental Science, Aerospace Science and Advanced Placement courses - From the Runnels perspective.
 
Runnels High School is dedicated to preparing its students for the technological twenty-first century.

Runnels School is a part of the Automated Weather Service (AWS), a network of schools and other facilities that possess self-contained weather stations and which are connected to each other and to the media by modem.

The high school library also has computers intended for student use. The students, under the supervision of the librarian, have access to the Internet.


The Junior and Senior High School classes have access to several computer labs equipped with multimedia computers and Internet access. Runnels School also owns several class sets of graphing calculators and calculator based laboratories (CBLS) and a variety of probes and sensors to accompany them.
Runnels has a rigorous college preparatory curriculum designed to
prepare our students for the demands of higher education.
In order to earn the prestigious Runnels Gold Seal Diploma, a student must complete this high school curriculum with a grade point average of 2.5 or higher and take three years of a foreign language.

ADVANCED PLACEMENT

Runnels offers a variety of Advanced Placement courses based on the curricula outlined by the College Board. Students who take these challenging courses take tests based on the course material in May. Based on the results of these tests, the students can earn college credit at almost every college and university in the country. Although the exact courses offered each year depend on the interests of the students, the course offerings include classes in mathematics, English, science, social science, computer science and art.
