Julie Fink was raised in Tampa, Florida. She received her bachelor’s degree from Bowling Green State University in Ohio and also took classes at LSU. Prior to teaching at Runnels, she worked at an environmental consulting firm. For the past 12 years, she has taught 6th grade science at Runnels.
Coach Fink started both the cross country (XC) and indoor track and field teams at our school. She begins her 12th season as head coach of the girls and boys cross country teams and her eighth as the indoor track and field team head coach.
She also returns for her fourth year as head coach the boys and girls outdoor track and field team after serving for five years as the assistant coach.
Fink received certification in Track and Field Technical Coaching through the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association and is certificated in strength and conditioning through the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.
She has served as a volunteer track official for the Louisiana Governor's Games, USATF, and AAU track and field meets, is on the coaching staff at Nike's Smoky Mountain Running Camp in Asheville, NC, is currently the president of the Louisiana Track and Field Cross Country Coaches Association and is the 2018 Girls Cross Country All-Metro Coach of the Year.
Over the past eight years, the Annual Fun Run at Runnels, which Coach Fink and the Running Raiders sponsor, has raised more than $1500 for the Foundation Fighting Blindness. Coach Fink is also the founder of the Fun Run and literally blazed the path for the creation of the Runnels Trail of Dreams.
