Update: 2019 All-District Baseball, Softball Honors

The Advocate recently updated the District 7-B First- and Second-Team All-District baseball rosters. Aaron Taliaferro was added as an outfielder, Trent King's position was changed from a fielder to a pitcher, and Blaine Nicholson was listed as a pitcher only and not as an infielder and pitcher. Many thanks to Greg Taliaferro for bringing these corrections to our attention. The updated information has been incorporated into the article below.

Strong seasons carried the Runnels baseball and softball teams all the way to the state championship games in Sulphur this year. The Raiders earned the state runners-up title in the 2019 LHSAA Baseball Playoff Bracket in Division V, and the Lady Raiders, ranked No. 4 in the state, powered their way to the LHSAA state softball quarterfinals, placing third in Districts.

Post-season honors have been piling up for many of our baseball and softball players following such impressive seasons.

Ten members of our baseball team made All-District. Named First Team All-District were pitcher Ricky Harrison, catcher Robby Harrison, infielder Grayson Gulley, and outfielders Collin Bueche and Jake Best. Named Second-Team All-District were pitchers Sam Haase and Trent King, infielder Blaine Nicholson, outfielder Aaron Taliaferro, and utility player Justin Taliaferro.

Lady Raider softball players selected First Team All-District were infielder Carlie Aucoin and outfielder Sarah Soileau. Second Team All-District players were pitcher Kayleigh Nicholson, infielder Anna Manning, and utility player Gracie Smith.

Congratulations to our All-District players and their coaches.
