Coronavirus Update - March 13, 2020
March 13, 2020
Dear Runnels Families,
In compliance with Gov. John Bel Edward’s directive to close K-12 schools in an effort to halt the spread of coronavirus, Runnels will be closed Monday, March 16 through April 13. Plans for distance learning to minimize the disruption of the education of our students are as follows:
Packets of lessons for elementary grades will be available for pickup in the Information and Admissions building Tuesday, March 17 and Wednesday, March 18 from 8:00 a.m. through 3:00 p.m.
The junior and senior high will rely on face-to-face teaching over the internet for the duration of the closure. Please check your email several times a day for further information and directions. Teachers will train on Monday and students will receive a video giving them instructions on how the distance learning process will operate by Tuesday, March 17. Classes will be conducted online at regularly scheduled times, therefore, is essential for students to log in during their normal class times. It is our hope that students will continue with their classes remotely so there will be no interruption in learning and teaching.
Spring Break: We will observe spring break as originally scheduled – April 13 through April 17. School resumes April 20.
Standardized Tests: Standardized tests will be rescheduled for later in the school year.
We are monitoring local, state, and federal health agencies to remain as up-to-date as possible with the coronavirus situation, taking guidance from the Louisiana Department of Education and complying with measures they deem necessary to ensure the health, safety, and well-being of our students and staff.
Please continue to check your email for further information and updates.
